Located less than 12 miles from downtown Charlotte, North Carolina sits Matthews Manor, a 7,000 square foot home in the quiet suburb of Matthews. The home was built in 1973
on 52 acres of country land. Eventually, a residential neighborhood was built on the surrounding 51 acres as the town of Matthews grew.
On your arrival, we will be happy to serve you complimentary soft drinks, coffee or tea in the dining room. During the spring and summer season, lemonade is also available on the back porch. There are also assorted soft drinks available in the upstairs kitchen.
Linda and George Megee have beautifully restored it to its original flair. Your hosts originate from the Philadelphia area and spent twenty years in South Florida. The home and grounds show a warm Philadelphia sophistication and the eclectic style of South Beach. Their home is filled with antiques, art, & creative treasures for you to indulge in.
All rooms have wireless broadband internet.
Across the street from Matthews Manor is a 98-acre wildlife habitat and park with a 5 acre lake for fishing, play area, picnic tables, walking trails, and biking trails. Mountain bikes are available for rental at the Manor and the surrounding neighborhood is a pleasant and safe place for an evening walk.
Enjoy a round of golf at some of North Carolina's most beautiful and renowned private or public courses. Or stay at the Manor and explore the beautiful collection of art displayed in the common areas.
Take a walk into downtown Matthews and experience the charming touches representing what was once a small farming community and train depot with shops and fine dining for any palate. A side entrance leads to the garden area filled with an abundance of unique plantings and flowering trees and several comfortable places to sit and enjoy the afternoon sun. Curl up with a good book or just enjoy an afternoon tea while listening to the chirping of the birds.
